Prior to his death on the crucifix, Jesus Christ (Jürgen Prochnow) was offered a drink of water, a kind act turned away by a Roman soldier. These events play a profound role in occurrences during modern times, which some construe as signs of Christ's return and the apocalypse. While Abby Quinn (Demi Moore) believes the end is coming and that her unborn child may be in danger as a result, Father Lucci (Peter Friedman), a Vatican agent, is doubtful no matter what evidence she presents.

The Seventh Sign | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Moore, as impassioned as her performance might be, is hopelessly miscast as Abby. Rated: 2/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review The Seventh Sign | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Not to be confused with Ingmar Bergman's masterpiece The Seventh Seal (as if!), The Seventh Sign is an ofttimes admirable yet mostly silly supernatural thriller. Nov 5, 2018 Full Review The Seventh Sign | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat Many of the performances are over-dramatic, the plot is difficult to follow, and the movie takes itself so seriously that it's often tempting to laugh at it. All in all, The Seventh Sign is a mess. Noah R An interesting concept quickly dissolves into silly acting and overused tropes. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Patrick V Excellent 80’s movie. Great ambiance, actors, music and the subject is really interesting : The signs of God from St John (Apocalypse's). It’s a must !!! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Khushnood A Seventh sign was overlooked by critics upon release in 1988, even here on Rotten Tomatoes, the plot is mentioned " an evil has awakened ", that is incorrect, makes you wonder if movies are watched before passing reviews. Nevertheless, this movie is a fine supernatural chiller with religious roots. It has engaging performances with a unfolding mystery that keeps you riveted, atmosphere is well crafted with dark spooky imagery, Demi moore & Jurgen Procknow deliver some intense moments on screen. This movie deserves much more credit Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/23 Full Review Thomas S I love this movie. You neg-heads just didn't get it, which is sad. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/23 Full Review Steve D Frustrating and dull. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/02/23 Full Review kevin c Demi Moore plays a pregnant woman who is looking forward to giving birth after previously miscarrying. A stranger renting a room from her predicts that giving birth to her child will unleash the seventh sign which will end the world. I've always dug this movie, it took itself seriously and emitted a pretty creepy vibe to it with its religious overtones. Michael Biehn and Jurgen Prochnow costar.
